i bought a "Belkin Wireless G Router" to get on Xbox Live. I have an "Inspiron 1501 Dell Notebook Computer." I do not have a "Modem" connected to it for an Internet Access. I use a Wireless Internet Connection from my brother's "Modem/Router" because he has Xbox Live. My Instructions say to connect my router to my modem and then my xbox live cord to my router, but i have no modem. all i have is a router and an xbox live cord. Can somebody PLEASE tell me how to fix this problem so i can get XBOX LIVE working? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Xbox live connection.....?
Your description is a bit unclear on what your brother uses to go online (Xbox Live is not a Modem/Router thing, it's a service from Microsoft, that needs an already existing Internet connection to work).
So basically look at your setup from "outside" to inside.
You probably have a broadband modem that is connected to a wall outlet from your cable or telephone provider.
From this modem, you connect the cable to the uplink port of your Belkin router.
Then you connect all computers and the Xbox to the ethernet ports or wirelessly to the Belkin router.
Set up the router, so he can use the Broadband modem (check the Routers manual and the instructions your Internet Provider gave you).
Now you can connect with all devices to the Internet and with your console to Xbox Live.
