I currently live in downtown Toronto, Canada which is a really safe place to live, but I am getting tired of the cold weather %26amp; looking for a place to live with moderate to warm weather.
I like where I live now. I walk to work. I love the convenience of rolling out of bed and into work. I live in an average income neighbourhood, but beside one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in the area, so I have access to their amenities/parks/hiking trail/theatres/restaurants, while at the same time maintaining access to amenities that are affordable with an average income. I also live near a beach %26amp; can pretty much walk or bike everywhere. Any place like this in San Diego where I may maintain my current lifestyle?
I would like to move back to the U.S.. I initially want to buy a vacation home in the San Diego area %26amp; work/live there later in approx.5 yrs. I am a sophisticated and professional woman, yet down to earth and active volunteer in the community.

Actually they have revitalized many areas in downtown San Diego which have made it a nice place to live. You can take the trolley around town, you are close to the Gas Lamp and seaport village where there are shops and restaurants and the ocean. Plus, there are many volunteer opportunities here. And, it is a good time to purchase real estate because the median prices have gone down significantly in the past year (and there are a lot of foreclosures on the market, too). You should plan a trip out here to investigate.

Downtown SD would be simaler. Right now is a good time to buy there. Too many condos were built and people who bought are forclosing You could probably get a really good deal right now. ( For SD prices) There arnt really any beaches in the downtown area but just about everything you are looking for would be within 20 min ( when there is no traffic)
