Hey, I tried to ask a question before but it got deleted :( Well anyway.
I am from London, I am 19. I will be attending a college in Los Angeles. Since I don't have alot of money for rent, almost all of my money will be spent on tution. I would like to know where is the cheapest area to live in? I don't have alot of money to live on college campus. I only have 鎷?,500 per month for rent.
Since this will be my first time that I would be living on my own and away from famliy. I would like a safe area to live in. I will find a roomate to share the rent with. I was wondering where is the best area to live in that is affordable with the amount of money I have, that is near my college in the City of LA.
How long does it take to commute to the city?
I have heard that the San Fan Valley, Is a affordable is this true? What kind of accomodation should I expect with the amount of money I have? Also, whats the weather like in So Cal? Is there anything I should know about before going to LA?
Where to live in LA?
What college are you attending?!
Where to live in LA?
I would suggest Burbank, Glendale, or Pasadena. They are close enough to L.A. so you won't have a terrible commute. If you want to drive a little further then I suggest Montrose or La Crescenta. All are safe areas and affordable if you have a roommate.
Where to live in LA?
Well first off, you might want to specify the name of the school you will be attending. Usually the cheapest area to live, isn't always the best place. Since 1500 British pounds in USD = 2937.15, you can get a pretty good place to live in. Well, I've enver heard of San Fan Valley, maybe you're mistaking it for San Francisco, which is too far, or San Fernando Valley, which is more probable. I live near LA, but in a house. I guess I'm not really helping with the whole financial living thing.
On to the weather. I've lived in California for 14 years, and never have bought a warm enough sweater/jacket. This doesn't mean that CA is not cold though. It can be during the winter months. I'm guessing the weather in London is bit cooler, since it's higher north and such. If you can adapt to 40-60 degree weather, you'll be just fine in California. I guess I'm a true Southern California kid, so I don't bother to buy many outerwear.
Is there anything to know about LA... hmm I don't know. Some areas are decent, but others may be too risky. The area outside of USC may not be that great, so if you are attending USC, dorms would be a plus. The area around UCLA is pretty decent, so dorms aren't a necessity. Hope that helps!!!

I am replying to questions from users from my other yahoo account. I will be attending FIDM. The area I was talking about was the San Fernando Valley.
Where to live in LA?
If by FIDM, you are referring to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. they have four campuses in Southern California. If possible I would recommend you try to attend the one in Orange County. The campus is located in the city of Irvine, California. (NICE area!!! )
Orange County is roughly 15-20 miles east of Los Angeles and is, generally speaking, safer, cleaner, less crowded, and with a better public transportation system (but not as good as London's)
You can check out their website at "FIDM.com". The website indicates that the school will assist students to find housing at local hotels, motels, and apartments at negotiated rates. They also assign roommates to help keep the housing expenses to a minimum for their students. Sounds like a pretty good school%26gt;
Welcome to the United States, and "Good Luck" on your fashion career.
